Home Staging Tips & Tricks to Sell Faster

It goes without saying that if you are trying to sell your home, you want it to sell fast and at your asking price. Staging is a great place to start if you want to sell your house quickly! Staging your home will not only make it visually appealing, but it will also allow potential buyers to envision themselves living in the home. Follow our tips below on how to stage your home!

Clean your home - While this may be an obvious tip, a clean home is automatically more appealing than a dirty one. Ideally, you will want to clean every part of the house, including floors, windows, ceilings, and outdoor spaces. Make your porch and entryway more inviting with a clean rug, plants, and furniture, if you have it. Make sure to declutter so that potential buyers will be able to focus on the pleasing qualities of your home.

Depersonalize - This step may be hard for some people, but the buyers need to be able to envision themselves in the home. Your family photos, keepsakes, or refrigerator art may be distracting for a buyer and make it more difficult to see themselves in the house. Once you have removed all personal accolades, consider adding a bouquet of fresh flowers or a houseplant to elevate the space.

Define your rooms - Each room in your house should look like it has a purpose. Even if you do not use a room traditionally, or use it for storage, make sure to declutter the space and stage it so a potential buyer can see the value. Make sure your closets are clean and organized, then leave them open so visitors can peek inside and envision their clothes and storage items in them.

Lighting - When showing your house, you want the home to be well lit. Be sure to open all curtains and blinds, and leave all of your light fixtures ON. If any fixtures have burnt out bulbs, make sure to replace them before showing your home. A bright home will appear more inviting to potential buyers.

Furniture - When staging your home, you should make sure each piece of furniture has a purpose and fits the room. Be sure to arrange your furniture in a way that is easy to get around and makes the room feel spacious and homey. To add a pop of color to the space, add a colorful throw pillow to your couch or chairs.

Exterior - To ensure your home has curb appeal, spend some time cleaning and sprucing up the exterior and entrance to your home. Make sure your lawn, hedges, plants, and trees are well-manicured. Power washing the siding of your home and the windows will also increase curb-appeal. Adding outdoor furniture and flowers to your front porch or deck will elevate the space even more.

Overall, you want to make sure your home is clean and neat for potential buyers. You want to create a space where they will be able to envision themselves living in the home. Defining your rooms, cleaning the home, depersonalizing the space, and adding pops of color will all help in selling your home.
